Press Release
The A.K. Badner Gallery is pleased to present an exhibition of recent works by three emerging artists.
Kyle Hamilton is a graduate of the Cooper Union. About her powerful work she has said “My artwork is about the parts of ourselves detached from the moment, wanting to be heard, not ignored, they put themselves forward and take control of the body. The docs like to call them parts, but I think they are my souls.” The images she creates are riveting and thought provoking as well as being extremely visually adept. They have the capacity to burn themselves into one’s memory.
Cristobal Gomez attended the Universidad Iberoamericana in Santo Domingo and then came to New York to continue his education at the Parson School of Design. One of the topics he explores in these works is the “idea of forgetting everything we know and trying to recreate basic relationships between our inner selves and the things we interact with and experience every day”. The work in this show investigates color and its relationship to space, as well as our own relationship to objects in the natural world.
Eladio Victoria studied at Universidad Nacional Pedro Henriquez Urena in Santo Domingo. His work, which makes a free and bold use of color and simple images, “is a reflection of the multi-influenced Caribbean way of life. “Color is an expression of a daily recognition of space, attitude and background.”
