| Moments in TimeJune 18, 2009- July 17, 2009Reception: June 18, 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm BLANK SPACE is pleased to present Moments in Time, an exhibition of the photography of two Korean artists, Young-don Choi and Woong-chul An.
Young-don Choi is part of one of the first generations to introduce photography in Korea. He has greatly impacted the trajectory and evolution of photography and art in Korea. In his most recent body of work, Choi has drawn inspiration from all around the world. He focuses on capturing adolescent memory of time and a rich variety of life patterns. They expose an artist’s efforts to record and interpret moments of time and exclusively distinguish graphic boldness and design layouts, which transformed the Korean perspective of traditionalistic photographic approach.
Photographer Woong-chul An began his career as an art director at an advertising agency called Ssangyong business group, in South Korea. He began shooting in the early 90s and held his first solo exhibition in 1993. Since then, An has had nine solo exhibitions and numerous group exhibitions. He has also worked with prestigious magazines such as Vogue, Bazaar and Numero. Woong-chul An’s work is about re-interpreting his perception of Korea and the world, in both documentary, landscape and portraiture photography. An has published four photography books and is described by renowned American art critic Raul Zamudio as ‘a limitless, expressive photographer’.
