| Cubitt is an independent organisation controlled by its members: a community of over 30 artists dedicated to enlivening London's cultural communities. Cubitt upholds the importance of the artist-run space, and by virtue of its diverse studio, gallery and off-site activities, continues to promote national and international developments in visual culture. These comprise exhibitions, performances, screenings, symposia, talks given by artists, critics or curators as well as educational projects.
Cubitt was founded in 1991 as an artist-run gallery and studios and has been a registered charity since 1995. Cubitt started its activities at Goodsway in London's Kings Cross area, moved to Cubitt Street (hence the name) and later to Caledonia Road. In 2001 we finally relocated from King's Cross to 8 Angel Mews in Islington.
