| Haines and AlbertOctober 9, 2007- November 3, 2007Reception: October 11, 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm Steven Albert
What we often dismiss parts of our day as mundane and routine, yet Albert see each moment as an opportunity to find a source of discovery and surprise. "From the intimate, and ordinary scenes chosen, I attempt to tease out abstract, linear order and rhythms from the tangle of an otherwise chaotic world. All the objects within the painting are lovingly described in a highly realistic manner, keeping the paintings rooted in recognizable experiences."
Andrew Haines
Although painting places which may be recognizable to some, Haines's goal is not to accurately document an object or place. "I often change the particulars of my subject to make a good painting, I'm after the spirit, not the facts, of a scene. By taking the time to carefully observe and translate what I see, I hope to share the pleasure I get simply from looking."
