“Just What Are They Saying… blends acclaimed and emerging artists who explore the use of obscure text and language through their work. They provoke the viewer to look beyond the traditional use of words and structured language, to come to an understanding of the deeper connotation. While many perceive image-based art as ambiguous, most see textual pieces and writings as explanations – direct and clear representations of ideas. However, this exhibition illuminates how text acts as another realm; where, the artist can challenge the viewer. Just What Are They Saying… is on exhibit from January 17, 2009 thru February 28, 2009. The opening of the exhibition coincides with the closing of Prospect.1: New Orleans Biennial.
