| Nightmares of SummerJune 10, 2006- July 8, 2006 Marvelli Gallery is pleased to present Nightmares of Summer,
a group exhibition.
The exhibition is curated by George Robertson and Marcello Marvelli
The carefree days of summer: leisure time, warm sun, sparkling waters,
pristine beaches and dappled woods. Nature at her best, vacations
surrounded by good friends and loving family. Isolated and threatening
locations, freak storms, unfulfilled expectations, sudden tragedies,
compulsive excesses, boredom, ennui, strained relationships, shocking
discoveries, lives scarred forever. Few things in life are truly unalloyed,
and the events that loom largest in our expectations have an unsettling
propensity for disappointing the most. Summer is a striking example.
The artists in this exhibition take many different positions and work in
different media. But all address, with varying degrees of sincerity,
sadness, irony or humor the darkness inherent in all paradigms of light, the
dark cloud contained by every silver lining.
