Founded by Nana Onishi, a curator and fine artist, Onishi Gallery brings a wide range of Japanese art and culture to New York by providing a number of fine exhibitions and unique events. The gallery focuses on introducing diverse and exciting rare Japanese traditional arts and crafts of which are normally seen only in museums. Also, the gallery features international contemporary artists who use the Japanese traditional methods and techniques in their art work. Onishi Gallery's purpose is mixing and exchanging culture and art by international artists - in the very heart of the contemporary art stage: Chelsea.
