| The Flat FilesJune 1, 1995- Date N/AThe Pierogi Flat Files began with the idea of making artwork available to a larger audience. It was first exhibited at Four Walls in Brooklyn, and consisted of 20 artist portfolios. Since that time curators, collectors, critics, dealers, and the general public have seen work from the file which has grown to include the work of over 700 artists.
A set of Flat Files are always on view at Pierogi in Brooklyn, NY and Leipzig Germany. Additional sets of traveling Flat Files are often on the road.
During the summer of 1995, the files were exhibited at Ronald Feldman Gallery in Manhattan. In October 1995, the flatfile went to the Museum of Modern Art, where it was viewed by museum curators and a collectors' circle. In June 1996 it was exhibited at the Exchange Show in downtown New York. The next destination for the files was London in September 1997 at the Gasworks Gallery and in October 1997 at the Corner House in Manchester, England. From July 1997 until January 1998 the files were part of a curated show, Current Undercurrent, at the Brooklyn Museum. In November 1997 the flatfile went to the University of North Carolina at Greensboro where it was shown at the Weatherspoon Gallery. From September through November, 1998 the files were on view at Vassar College and Bard College in New York state. August through September, 1998 another set of files holding different work traveled to Vienna, Austria where they were on view at the KHaus (Kunstlerhaus). From 4 November through 4 December, 1999 two flat files, containing the works of over 200 artists, were exhibited at the Rosenwald-Wolf Gallery at The University of the Arts in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania . Featured artists included Steven Charles, Peter Dudek, Lori Ellison, James Esber, Jane Fine, Rico Gatson, Mark Lombardi, Bruce Pearson, Joyce Robins, Charles Spurrier, Greg Stone, and Fred Tomaselli. Between 4 August 2000 and 28 February 2001, the files traveled from The Yerba Buena Center for the Arts in San Francisco, to POST gallery in Los Angeles, to H&RBlock Artspace in Kansas City. The Flat Files were on view at The Currier Museum of Art in Manchester, New Hampshire from 28 September 200212 January 2003 and then the University of Southern Maine, Gorham, ME in September 2003.
They will be on view at The Andy Warhol Museum in Pittsburgh, PA from 6 February - 15, March 2004.
