On view from July 9 – September 4, 2009, the exhibition is comprised of 17 photographs and mixed-media pieces, including works that will be on public view for the first time.
Using differing artistic approaches, work by both artists addresses the relationship between the viewer and the artwork. Daddona explores the use of photography as a mnemonic and story-telling device, while also looking to the photograph’s ability to transform according to each viewer’s own perspective. Meanwhile, Murray portrays dreamlike scenarios in which subjects confront a logical disconnect between themselves and their surroundings. Pointing to the question of how humans delineate between the known and the unknown, works ask viewers to engage in personal reflection. Works by Murray and Daddona unite in the exhibition under an investigation into the emotional disconnect with the human condition, as well as outward connections between maternal and natural instincts. Resulting works evoke discomfort, humor, sadness, curiosity and intrigue.
