| Yankee RoseJanuary 11, 2008- February 9, 2008Reception: January 11, 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm In the upstairs gallery we are pleased to present Yankee Rose, a series of new works by Roger Andersson. This body of works on paper continues the artist’s meticulous renderings of various species of flora that reference a number of historical practices including illuminated manuscripts, Victorian botanical drawings and story book illustrations. Similar to his previous body of work, Letters from Mayhem (2003), which was also produced as a book edition in conjunction with Cabinet Magazine, Andersson depicts, in painstaking detail, small figures dwarfed and hidden within jungles of unruly, twisting roots. However, the artist has abandoned his monochromic, Delft blue palette for more natural murky earth tones.
