MOTI HASSON GALLERY is very pleased to announce the representation of FRANKLIN EVANS.

FRANKLIN EVANS is a New York-based artist whose work includes drawings, videos, and increasingly, site-specific pieces combining both. Ranging in scale and format, Evans' works are consistently bound by their distinct color palate and intricate compositions that are showcased both as discrete works, and as part of large-scale installations.

Often containing a precarious mix of materials ranging from thread, masking tape, nails, sheetrock, and time-based elements, Evans' work speaks to transitory states of being. Drawing from his creative experiences, as well as iconic images from art history and his multicultural background, Evans raises questions about lineage and place in order to reveal what possibilities exist for transcendence and regeneration, both as an artist and as an individual. Evans states: "As a mixed-ethnicity artist, I wonder whether [...] I may be seen as one person with two or more identities, recombinant, fragile, decaying, transient."

Through multi-dimensional works that simultaneously highlight, counteract, and document his life in ways that are both obvious and abstract, Evans reveals the interconnectedness between vision, experience, and his increasingly complex role as a contemporary artist living in an age of global flux.
