Vincent Amicosante

Vincent Amicosante's paintings have been exhibited throughout the United States, including The Cahoon Museum in Cotuit, MA, the Provincetown Art Association and Museum, the Cotuit Center for the Arts and the Harmon Gallery in Wellfleet, MA. He is a member of the Copley Society of Art, Boston, MA. Vincent will be a participant in the 2009 Biennale Internazionale Dell' Arte Contemporanea in Florence, Italy. Recently he has been invited as one of the 25 artists to commemorate the 25th Anniversary of the Cahoon Museum in Cotuit, MA.

Trained at New York City's School of Visual Arts, he has established a reputation as a magic realist painter. In his paintings familiar, even banal, themes are rearranged, becoming enigmatic. His painted world is one of staged metaphors -- sofas and chairs in unexpected locations, figures and fruit combined for their embodiment of sexuality. The pleasure of fruit and the visual comparisons to the human form, both male and female, that subconsciously invade our thoughts - flowers pollinated, transformed into fruit and then eaten - are brought to the surface in these paintings.

He has lived in California and traveled to Italy and the influence of these places are evident in his work.
